Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent insufficient lubrication even in case a main lubricating device is out of order, by connecting an oil feed mechanism through a check valve with the sliding surface of a thrust bearing so as to feed pressurized oil on the slide face if oil pressure is abnormal in an oil pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A thrust bearing 2 is composed of segmental thrust pieces 3 arranged on the circumference of a rotational shaft 1 of a main machine and a housing 5 supporting the thrust pieces 3 through their pivots 4. Pressurized oil from an oil pump 9 is fed through an oil pipe 6 onto the sliding surface between the thrust pieces 3 and the shaft 1 to support the shaft 1 floating. If anything abnormal happens in the main lubricating device including the oil pump 9 due to power interruption, a pressure switch 12 detects an abnormal drop of oil pressure and actuates a control valve 16 of an oil feed mechanism 13 through a sequence circuit 22. Compressed air in an air tank 7 then lifts a piston 19 to feed oil from a chamber 14a to the bearing 2, thus the insufficient lubrication is dissolved.
