Abstract
PURPOSE:To decompose and remove ozone effectively for a long period of time by a method in which ozone present in an ozone-containing gas is brought into contact with an activated carbon on which a metal chelate compound is supported. CONSTITUTION:Metals of the I or VI groups, the VIIb groups, and the VIIIb group in the periodic table, e.g., copper, iron, etc., are chelated with a chelating reatent, e.g., ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, nitrilotriacetic acid, etc, and then supported on activated carbon. Then, an ozone-containing gas, e.g., waste gas from the oxidative treatment of nitrogen oxides, etc., is brought into contact with the said metal chelate compound supported on the activated carbon, thus permitting the effective and stable decomposition of ozone for a long period of time to be attained.
