Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure easy formation of nonplated area by a method wherein specific grooves are engraved around the boundary of plated and nonplated areas in nonconductive material, and nonelectrolytic plating and electroplating are sequentially performed.
CONSTITUTION: To provide a partly devided decorative metal plating layer on the nonconductive member such as plastic electric parts, annular grooves 3 having zigzag cross section and narrow gaps are engraved near the boundary of nonplating 1 and plating 2 sections. Suitable groove angle is 6W87° and depth is 0.3mm or more. The plating section 2 is applied with nonelectrolytic plating and electroplating in sequence. The nonelectrolytic plating is hard to form on the grooves, and if formed, the film is very thin, providing high electric resistance. Therefore, the electroplating cannot be formed. Thus, nonplating section is assuredly formed, without need for masking or peeling of plate.
