Abstract

1463474 Bearings MIBA GLEITLAGER AG 14 March 1975 10825/75 Heading F2A A composite bearing material comprising a backing layer 1 of copper alloy or light alloy, an intermediate layer 2, and a lead-tin-copper sliding surface layer 3 applied to the intermediate layer 2, is characterized in that the sliding surface layer 3 consists of a plurality of superimposed zones 4, 5, there being a change in copper content at each interface between the zones 4, 5. There may be high-copper zones 5 and lowcopper zones 4 provided in alternation, as indicated in Fig. 2 (not shown). The copper content may be between the high-copper zones 5 and between the low-copper zones 4. The zones 4, 5, may vary in thickness, in particular the high-copper zones 5 may be thinner than the low-copper zones 4. The intermediate layer may be of iron, cobalt, nickel, copper or a copper alloy, e.g. brass. The surface layer 3 may be electrodeposited.
