Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the sufficient rust-prevention effect without contaminating utility water in a long-term water-fill test of an oil tank by a method wherein the active portion of the tank internal surface is in advance coated with solvent-dilution type rust-preventive oil having a specific viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: The oil tank after built is checked by the water-fill test for its settelement, deformation, leak, etc. for about a month. In such a case, active portion such as welded sone or tool scratch in the tank internal is in advance coated with the solvent dilution type rust preventive oil whose viscosity is adjusted to 30W 250 Saybolt second at 38°C. The oil is removed with brust or the like after termination of the testing. This method is cheap, but gives sufficient rust preventive effect without need for adding specific rust preventive agent in utility water.
