Abstract

PURPOSE:To make good separation possible, by separating the luminance signal and the chrominance signal from the color video signal by two methods and by selecting them on a basis of vertical correlation of the chrominance signal. CONSTITUTION:Color video signal Sa is supplied to the Y-type comb line filter consisting of adding circuit 11 and delay circuit 2 and to trap circuit 12, and luminance signals Sb and Sc are separated and are applied to switch 13. Signal Sa is supplied to the C-type comb line filter consisting of subtracting circuit 21 and delay circuit 2 and to BPF22, and chrominance signals Sd and Se are separated and are applied to switch 23. The magnitude of vertical correlation of chrominance signals is detected by circuit 30, and switches 13 and 23 are controlled by the output. Consequently, luminance signal Sb and color signal Sd are taken out for large vertical correlation, and luminance signal Sc and color signal Sd are taken out for small vertical correlation, so that good separation which has no bad influence upon the reproducing screen is possible.
