Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a cleaning operation of exhaust gas without causing a lowering of output and a worsening of fuel economy throughout a full range of operation in the internal combustion engine, by controlling an air-fuel ratio with an auxiliary fuel supply system to make an operation of EGR by using two EGR valves.
CONSTITUTION: In a state of no load with a vehicle speed at zero likely when in idling operations, EGR valves 7, 7' are closed not to make an EGR operation, with the mixture also made lean. For the operation below a prescribed load at below a prescribed vehicle speed, only the EGR valve 7 is opened to make an EGR operation of slight amount, as well as with the mixture made also leaner than the theoretical air-fuel ratio.
