Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the clean cut surface free from deposition of molten dross without injecting fluid from a cutting torch by applying pulse currents between the material to be cut and a cutting wire at the time of fusion-cutting the material to be cut by generating a DC arc between both.
CONSTITUTION: A consumable electrode type wire is used and the material 9 to be cut is cut by generating a DC arc between the cutting wire 7 of a cutting torch 1 and the material 9 to be cut. In this case, the pulse current of frequency; 50W60Hz, voltage; 40W60V, current; 50W200A is applied to the DC background current for cutting. The application of the pulse current improves the stability of the arc during cutting, lets the molten dross of the cutting part be readily removed even without blowing fluid and enables the obtaining of the clean cut surface free from deposition of dross. Hence, the need for fluid shielding cup for the cutting torch is eliminated and there is no need for using fluid either.
