Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a runner from being damaged by a method wherein a damping material is stuck on to the outer periphery of the runner to curb the vibration in the axial direction and thereby reduce a vibration stress concentrating on the part of joint of a blade in a pump wheel and a turbine.
CONSTITUTION: In the runner of a turbine having a large capacity and rotating at a high speed, a crown 1 and a shrouded ring 3 strongly vibrate in the axial direction by hydraulic pulsations, whereby the vibration stress occurs intensively in the part of joint of a blade 2. This vibration is damped by a damping material 54 stuck on to the outer periphery of the crown 1 and the shrouded ring 3, thereby the occuring vibration stress being reduced. As the damping material 54, synthetic resin or the stuff made beforehand of viscous and elastic materials is used, the former being molded into the objective place, while the latter being laminated in one or several layers thereon by sticking. In this way, a turbine runner bearable to high head and high speed can be obtained without a substantial change in the form of the exisiting machines.
