Abstract
PURPOSE: To form an extrusion nozzle of desired shape for molten metal easily by the procedure in which one end of a quartz glass tube is melted by heating to close, a barlike ceramic press mold formed into a given nozzle inside shape is inserted into the other end of the quartz glass tube to a nozzle tip, and the nozzle tip is finished by grinding, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The quartz glass or heat-resistant glass tube 2 for manufacturing an extrusion nozzle for molten metal is closed for its one end by melting, the press molding bar 5 whose ceramic tip is formed into the press mold 7 having a desired shape is inserted into the softened other end of the glass tube 2 to form the end portion of the tube 2 into a dimension of the outside form corresponding to the outside form of the press molding bar 5, and then the tip so processed is ground or cut to form a nozzle shape matching the tip form of the press mold 7. Thus, the productivity of nozzles of not only circular form but also square form can be greatly and easily raised.
