Abstract

PURPOSE:To make easier welding work and to increase the strength of a rotor by a method wherein a conductor constituting the rotor is made of a copper alloy containing the percentage, lower than the weight ratio specified, of nickel and mangganese, then connecting to a short-circuit ring by rapid welding in a protective gas. CONSTITUTION:The conductor of a rotor 1 is made of an alloy of copper and nickel containing 0.1-5% of nickel and 1.0% or less of manganese in a weight ratio. After the conductor 1 of this rotor is engaged with a short-circuit ring 3, they are joined together by rapid welding in a protective gas such as an intert gas so as to make a squirrel-cage rotor. By so doing, it is made easier to weld the conductor 1 and the short-circuit ring 3 together and to increase the strength of the welded portion while decreasing the change in quality of the welded portion.
