Abstract
PURPOSE:To elongate the life of ventilation cock, by chemically plating the multiple capillary through-holes of the sintered ventilation cock inserted into venting hole, with corrosion resistant metal. CONSTITUTION:When molten meral is poured into the cavity 4 formed by the upper and lower dies 1, 2 and a core 3 of a mold, in order to vent out the gas generated in the core 3 and other parts, a proper number of venting holes 8 are provided in the recess 7 in the upper die 1. In order that only the gas is released and that the molten metal may not, flow out a cylindrical iron-copper base sintered ventilation cock 10 having a multiplicity, for instance, about 500 pieces, of capillary through-holes 11 extending in the direction of the central axial line of the holes 8 is driven into an opening part 9 of which diameter is slightly larger than that of the holes 8. The ventilation cock 10 is placed into a ring form 15 of which inside diameter and length are equal to the outside diameter and length of the cock 10, and the cavity is filled with iron powder 16, and copper wires 17 of which diameter is, for instance, 0.4 to 0.5mm are inserted therein in the direction of the axial line. The entire body is sintered in a furnace to melt the copper, and through-holes 11 are formed. This sintered body is applied with electroless plating, such as Schuma plating (Ni-P alloy).
