Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture the beam blank with a simple apparatus, by rolling the inner surface of the square sectioned cast billet before being cooled down. CONSTITUTION:The cast billet 2 of square section is pulled away from the mold 7, and this cast billet 2 is sent by the apron roller 8 in the arrowed direction A. Furthermore, just after the cast billet 2 completely solidifies, both side planes are pressed by the deformed roller 11 in the arrowed direction B to form the beam blank 2a; this beam blank 2a is drawn by the drawing roller 10. Before and behind the deformed roller 11, the middle part of the cast billet 2 is supported by the backup roller 12 and the drawing roller 10, hence, the middle part of the cast billet 2 is prevented from the bulging due to the press by the deformed roller 11.
