Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce generation of the crop loss, and to improve the rolling efficiency, by successively two or more times forcibly feeding each of front and tail ends of the slab with the following roll, in order to apply the width-reducing rollings to the slab to form it into a simple sectional shape. CONSTITUTION:At manufacturing the continuously cast slab or the slab bloomed from the ingot into the desired breadth size of the blank, the width-reducing rollings of two or more times corespondingly to number of mills are applied to one end in the rolling direction (arrowed mark) of the slab 1 by two or more arranged width- reducing mills 2, 2'..., while forcibly feeding the slab 1 with the following roll; after that, two or more times of reducing rollings are successively applied to another end while feeding with the following roll; hereby, the slab of a simple shape is manufactured. In order to impress the feeding force, the roll speed Vh of the mill 2 is made slower than the roll speed Vw of the following thickness reducing mill 3, and thus obtained feeding force 4 is impressed on the slab. According to this method, the crop loss is reduced as compared with the conventional method, and the rolling efficinecy is improved.
