Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep fine wires such as optical fibers parallel to each other without excess tension for convergence, by specifying the distance between rollers for holding the wires and their twisting angle.
CONSTITUTION: Each fine wire 1d is delivered along a delivery line AB on which are arranged a pair of front rollers 2a, 2b, horizontally, intermediate rollers 3a, 3b vertically and another pair of rear rollers 4a, 4b horizontally, the distances 6, 7, 8 between each pair of rollers being larger than the outer diameter of the wire 1 and smaller than twice the diameter. Since each wire 1 undergoes horizontal, vertical and again horizontal forces in this order while passing through the rollers, the wire 1 is twisted by 90°. This twisting angle can be set within 360° in accordance with the distance between rollers. This method can eliminate entanglement of wires 1 and also converge them without excess tension.
