Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to discriminate the faulty position of each repeater, by providing a wavelength division multiple switch, which separates a wavelength multiple light signal to light signals of respective wavelength to perform switching of light transmission lines, in each repeater to perform channel switching of light signals. CONSTITUTION:A repeater is constituted by electro-optic conversion circuits E/011-1 and E/011-2, light synthesizer 12, optical fiber 13, wavelength division multiple switch 14, and photoelectric conversion circuits O/E15-1 and O/E15-2. When a fault occurs in this system, it is decided whether the fault exists in outputs (a) and (b) or not; and if the fault exists in outputs (a) and (b), it is decided that the fault exists in fiber 13 including light synthesizer 12. In case of faulty output (a), switch 14 is switched. Therefore, when output (a) becomes normal, it is decided that E/O11-1 is faulty; and when output (a) is not normal still, it is decided that O/E15-1 is faulty. When no fault exists in output (a), switch 14 is switched to decide that E/O11-2 or 0/E15-2 is faulty dependently upon normalcy or anomaly of output (b).
