Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a sphygmomanometer without influence of the external temperature and mechanical error of simple structure by an apparatus wherein amount of pressure is transformed into a mechanical displacement, which is then transformed into a change in intensity of light, and then electrical output is obtained in proportion to the change in intensity thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A light source 4 and a photodetector 5 are provided in a dark box 6. A fixed slit plate 3 and a movable slit plate 2 connected to a diaphragm 1 are provided between the light source and the photodetector. The movable slit plate 2 is moved in accordance with a displacement of the diaphragm 1, so that the overlapped area with a hole formed in the fixed slit plate 3 is changed and then intensity of light entering into the photodetector 5 is changed. Output of the photodetector is displayed through an analog-digital converter 7. Accordingly, pressure produced at a manchette is transmitted to the diaphragm 1, and the times when Korotkoff's sound appears and disappears are displayed digitally thus constituting sphygmomanometer. By so doing, it becomes possible to obtain a sphygmomanometer with simple structure and high accuracy.
