Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate detection of overflow amount and control, by providing an ultrasonic wave transmitter/receiver in the weir bottom, and measuring the distance up to the top of weir film circumference by rotating at every specified angle with a motor to facilitate detection of weir height.
CONSTITUTION: A transmitting/receiving part 16 of an ultrasonic wave transmitter/ receiver is provided in a recess 11 in the weir bottom, and is rotated by a motor not illustrated in the drawing to transmit and receive ultrasonic waves to measure the distance l1, l2... etc. from the transmitting/receiving part 16 to the top of the weir film circumference. From these distance and the angles of elevation θ1, θ2... etc. formed by the foundation surface in the transmitting and receiving direction, the weir heights H1, H2... etc. of each point on the weir film circumference from the foundation surface are determined. By repeating this opration over the entire circumference, the largest height from the foundation surface is found, and the weir height is detected. Thus, since the weir height can be detected easily, the overflow amount may be detected, and its control becomes easy.
