Abstract
PURPOSE: Water-soluble tar colorants are adsorbed on an activated clay mineral, an aluminum salt is added, and further an alkali salt is admixed thereto, thus producing stable oganic colorants that can smoothyl be extended on skin as cosmetic and has high water resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A clay mineral consisting of silicates, as the major ingredient, and minor amounts of aluminum and magnesium, e.g., sericite of the formula, is treated with an inorganic acid as sulfuric, nitric, hydrochloric acid, or organic acid as formic acid, alone or their mixture, to remove injurious heavy metal and simultaneously activate the surface, thus increasing the adsorbability. After water-soluble tar colorants are adsorbed thereon, an aluminum salt, then an alkali sat are added thereto to precipitate the lake. The resulting lake is rinsed, filtered, dried to give said colorant.
