Abstract

PURPOSE:To make construction simple, low loss and inexpensive by changing over optical path by using curved optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:The photo switch is constituted by input fibers 21a-21d, output fibers 22a-22d and bypass fiber 23. The bypass fiber 23 is opposed to the end faces of the fibers 21a and 22a. A member 24 is formed by epoxy resin or the like by way of the thin film elastic material 25 having the same refractive index as that of the core of the optical fiber. Further, the member 24 is connected to a step motor 26 whose center of rotation aligns to the center of where each fiber is arrayed. As a result of this, the input of the fiber 21a passes through the fiber 23, whereby the changing-over to the fiber 22a is accomplished. By changing over of the step motor 26, the four changings-over from 21d up to 22d may be similarly accomplished. If n fibers are used, changing-over of n/2 may be accomplished.
