Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce title polymer having, on the molecular chain ends, sulfur-containing silyl groups or siloxane linkages, which can be converted into rubbery elastomers by the action of moisture at room temperature, by carrying out addition reaction between a specific polyalkylene polyether and an organosilicon compound.
CONSTITUTION: Addition reaction is carried out between a polyoxyalkylene polyether having, on the molecular chain ends, groups represented by formula I, wherein R1 is H or a monovalent hydrocarbyl group; R2 is a bivalent hydrocarbyl group and m is 0W1, and an organosilicon compound represented by formula II, wherein R3 is alkyl, R4 is a monovalent hydrocarbyl group or a triorganosiloxy group, R5 is a bivalent hydrocarbyl group and a is 1W3. Thereby, title polymer having, on the molecular chain ends, groups represented by formula III is produced in good yield and high operation efficiency. The polymer is useful as a sealing material or an electrical insulating material.
