Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the decrease of the sectional area of a large number of holes penetrating catalyst blocks in one direction due to slip by a method wherein the catalyst blocks of hexahedra which have holes and concave portions and convex portions are mounted to each edge portion facing to upper and lower surfaces vertical in the penetrating direction are connected by means of the concave portions and the convex portions.
CONSTITUTION: Convex portions (legs) 4 and concave portions (inserting holes) 5 are each formed to edge portions facing to the lower surfaces 1-2 and the upper surfaces 1-1 of catalyst blocks 1 which a large number of holes 2, which are extruded and molded, for letting exhaust gas pass are penetrated in one direction. When the second catalyst block 1 is stacked on the upper surface 1-1 of the first catalyst block 1, the lower surface 1-2 is connected to the upper surface 1-1, and the concave portions 5 and the convex portions 4 of four corner portions 3 are fitted. Thus, displacement can be prevented which is formed in the parallel direction on the surfaces 1-1, 1-2 of the catalyst blocks, and the slip of a large number of the holes 2 for letting discharged smoke gas pass is not produced.
