Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit favourable control of brake liquid pressure even if one system is in failure by arranging an intermediate cylinder which divides the inside of the cylinder of a valve body into two hydraulic systems and arranging a pair of balance pistons inserted slidably at the right and the left end parts.
CONSTITUTION: When hydraulic pressure is transmitted to both input ports 16 from a master cylinder in braking, the liquid pressure is transmitted to the front- wheel side and the rear-wheel side brake apparatuses from each port 17 and 18 respectively, for the communication passage for the input and output liquid chambers a and b is open. In this case, a valve piston 6 is shifted against a control spring 9 due to hydraulic action, and the valve body part 8 is contacted with a valve seat 12, and the communication passage between both chambers a and b is closed. Each piston 6 controls the output liquid pressure so as to have a prescribed low ratio for the input liquid pressure due to the balance of hydraulic action. When the liquid pressure in one system does not work properly, an intermediate cylinder element 4 is deflected to the failure side, and the piston 6 on the normal system side performs hydraulic control.
