Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a battery excellent in discharging and storing performance by causing thermally fusable to stick adhesive on peripheral edges of a separator or positive and negative electrodes, decreasing the pressure in said battery and heating and adhering under pressure said edges, and thereby decreasing the thickness of said battery. CONSTITUTION:As negative and positive electrode current collectors 1, 2, are used for example those formed each by applying a carbon film 3 added with a binder like an epoxy resin to the inner surface of a corrosion-resistant metallic foil such as alminum foil. On the inner surface of the carbon film 3, are coated a thin layer 4 of a negative electrode active material such as zinc foil or powder and a thin layer 5 of a positive electrode compound such as manganese dioxide to form negative and positive electrode plates respectively. A thermally fusable adhesive 7 is stuck to the electrodes or the peripheral edges of a separator 6 interposed between the electrodes. The electrodes assembly is enclosed by a filmlike envelope 8 except the terminals 9.10 thereof. Then the generating elements are sealed tightly and fixed to each other by decreasing the pressure in the battery and press-heating the peripheral edges. With the above the thickness of the battery and its variation can be decreased and the dischargeable capacity during its storage due to the remaining air can be prevented.
