Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the damping characteristic of a buffer variable, by supporting a valve body, which is composed of a leaf valve, with another elastic member and generating damping power through elastic force of the leaf valve or the elastic member in accordance with the traveling speed of a piston. CONSTITUTION:As a valve body 17 is pushed upward against a spring 18 by virtue of pressure in a hydraulic chamber B during the contraction stroke of a piston 2a, resistance is produced in working oil flowing through a passage 15 in another hydraulic chamber A to generate damping power dependent on elasticity of the spring 18. When the piston 2a is being extended, the working oil bends a leaf valve 22 downward, if the piston speed is low, due to pressure in the hydraulic chamber A and flows in the chamber B through the passage 15. As the piston speed exceeds a preset level, the leaf valve 22 drops, through a stopper 24, together with a sleeve 19 against a spring 20 and makes the passage 15 wide open. The flow resistance of the oil is subsequently reduced.
