Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect biological oxidation treatment with highly efficient dissolving of oxygen while preventing the carrier from flowing out by a method wherein sewage or industrial waste water is passed through fluidized bed consisting of small specific gravity carrier particles having on their surface deposited aerobic microbes.
CONSTITUTION: Microbes are deposited and grown on the surface of carrier particles whose specific gravity is smaller than that of object to be treated. Treating water 7 into which oxygen-contg. gas is dissolved by pressure is passed through the above carrier particles. The carrier particles are fluidized to cause microbes on the surface of carrier to contact water and purify the water. Because the carrier has specific gravity smaller than that of the treating water, the carrier always tends to float up. Meanwhile, the treating water flows downwardly, and therefore treating water and carrier efficiently contact, and flowing out of the carrier is prevented.
