Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent troubles with a less power consumption by lowering the voltage to be fed to the printer coil when the current flows ceaselessly to the drive coil containing DC component.
CONSTITUTION: In the impact printer, when the current detection part 3 detects current, the time controlling section 4 controls the switching section 5 in such a manner that the voltage fed to the printer is lowered gradually from the point where the current began to flow or done so after the current flows over a fixed time. In either case, the moment the current to the printer ceases, the feed voltage returns to the normal level. If the current should be left running, due to troubles at the printer controlling section and the coil driving section, the protective circuit detects the condition after a fixed time and lowers the feed voltage to the printer. This eliminates undesired power consumption and the secondary trouble.
