The ignition of a separately excited converter 3 is controlled depending on a position signal from a position detector 13. a capacitor 6 is connected in parallel with the armature winding of a synchronous motor 4 to prevent its armature output from falling. The output signals of a speed detector 8 and a detector 14 are applied together to an amplifier 15. The controlled lead angle of the converter 3 is regulated by the action of a phase shifter 16 depending on the output signal of the amplifier 15.
