Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Aminosaccharide antibiotic G-367-1 (nontoxic acid addition salt) having the following physico-chemical properties: Melting point 130W133°C. [α]D24+188.9° (C=1.0, H2O). C, 50.14%; H, 7.60%; N, 14.42%. Molecular weight 475(mass spectrometry). Molecular formula C20H37N5O8. Soluble in water and methanol; insoluble in acetone, benzene, chloroform, etc. Positive to ninhydrin and KMnO4 decoloration reactions; negative to the biuret reaction. Basic.
USE: Antibacterials having a great activity particularly against Gram-negative bacteria.
PROCESS: G-367-1 producing actinomycetes, (FERM-P No. 4840), which belong to the genus Dactylosporangium, are incubated in a medium aerobically at 25W35°C for 100W200hr.
