Abstract

PURPOSE: To adjust the amount of oxygen in a solution always near the preset value, by controlling the ratio of operation time for acceleration or deceleration of a stirring motor depending on the deviation of the measurements of oxygen in the solution from the value.
CONSTITUTION: The amount required of oxygen in solution is preset depending on the kind and quantity of microorganisms to be incubated, and stored in the time- proportional controller 7. The oxygen in the solution is determined by the electrode 3 built in the tank 1a, and recorded by the recorder 6. The deviation of the measured value transmitted to the controller 7 from the preset value is then calculated to determine the ratio of operation time for acceleration or deceleration of the stirring motor 4, which is transmitted from the sequence unit 8 to the motor 4. The stirrer 2 is rotated with acceleration or deceleration to reduce the deviation to zero, and the amount required of the oxygen in air is dissolved by the resulting vortex.
