Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title agent free from heavy metals and toxic elements, and useful for the prevention of adhesion of aquatic life to ships, fishing nets, etc., by using a specific substituted coumarin derivative as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: The title agent containing a substituted coumarin derivative of formula (R1W4 are H, OH, 1W6C alkoxy, 1W6C staturated or unsaturated alkyl, provided that at least one of the R1W4 is 1W6C alkyl), e.g. osthole, methylumbelliferone, superocin, etc., as an effective component. The compound can be obtained either by extraction from the plant of Umbelliferae, e.g. "hamaudo", or by chemical synthesis. It can be applied e.g. by immersing a fishing net in a solution containing the compound, or by coating ships with paint containing the compound.
