Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the enzyme electrode of arbitrary shape, easy for enzyme immobilization, high in activity, and possible for continuous and repetitive usage, by using the film forming substance scattering conductive substance and immobilizing enzyme on the conductive film formed on the substrate surface.
CONSTITUTION: The conductive film 3 scattering carbon, noble metal, metal carbide or conductive metal oxide in the film forming substance such as alkali metal silicate, synthetic resin and rubber, is formed on the surface enclosing the platinum lead 2 at one end of the substrate 1 such as glass tube. The substance having amino base such as albumin is mixed on the film 3 in advance for easy cross-link immobilization of enzyme. The enzyme is immobilized on the layer 3 by using glutaraldehyde, and the enzyme electrode 10 is made as the immobilization enzyme layer 4. The electrode 10 is immersed in the buffer solution 11 including the substance specifically reacted with enzyme and the concentration of substrate is measured by using the unit consisting of the reference electrode 7, salt bridge 8, pair electrode 9, potentiostat 6 and recorder 5. Thus, the analysis of substrate can be made by using only slight and expensive enzyme.
