Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the elements necessary for encoding by making use of the address counter of the buffer memory for storage of the binary coded picture signal for the code memory purpose of the bit number of one side through the comparison between the 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional encoding bit numbers. CONSTITUTION:Changing point a1 is detected by changing point detector 14 for the encoding line of RAM5 of buffer memory BUF for storage of the binary coded picture signal, and then point a1 is memorized in address register 16. After this, the reading of RAM5 is advanced to detect changing point b1 of the reference line, following changing point a2 of encoding line and then a1b1 and a1a2 are counted via run length counter 15. Both start point picture element a0 of encoding and the run length code of point a1 are read out of ROM7, and their digit number is set to counter 4. Then the comparison is given between the output of counters 4 and 15 through comparator COM.
