Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording head for an ink jet recording device which can perform recording of good quality and high speed for a long time by applying a smoothing process to the surface of the inner wall of a thin orifice which is a flow route of a recording liquid and one end of which is a discharge orifice. CONSTITUTION:A smoothing process is applied to the surface of the inner wall of a thin orifice which is provided in a recording head as a flow route of a recording liquid and one end of which is a discharge orifice. The method emploed is that a long and thin orifice 4 in a stated number made on one face of a flat plate 1 by using a diamond-blade cutter is filled with an abrasive and a cutting process is applied repeatedly along the same line thereon by using the same cutter. By this, both the width and depth of a cut groove are enlarged about 10%, but the original roughness of the surface reaching 5mu or more is reduced to be 1mu or less. There is another method wherein a metal disc of the same diameter and thickness with those of the diamond-blade cutter is rotated and passed several times through the cut groove filled with the abrasive. By this, the width and the depth are finished almost in the same dimensions as the above.
