Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy and reliability of focus detection by providing plural ways of analysis system.
CONSTITUTION: m Ways of filter functions are stored in the memory 6 connected to a CPU5. After the outputs of the photo detector array 2 which receives the subject light through a photographing lens 1 or the like are digitized by an A/D converter 4, they are taken in a CPU5, where they are subjected to Fourier transformation to obtain power spectra, after which m ways of filter functions are multipled to the power spectrum from the 1st one and the results are added to determine the evaluation value by the j-th filter function. The significance of this evaluation value is judged by depending upon whether this value is above a certain threshold value or not. When it is judged to be significant, the evaluations by the (j+1)th order having higher weights at higher frequencies are done up to the maximum m times and when all are judged to be significant, j is made m.
