Abstract

PURPOSE: To securely explode or break an underwater mine using a small amount of an explosive by a method wherein an underwater steaming body charged with ammunition is softly bottomed on the ground near a mine, and ammunition is placed at a position closest to the mine by a manipulator.
CONSTITUTION: An underwater steaming body 48 is controlled by a ship and guided to the waters where an underwater mine 49 is detected to be present by the surface ship. After guided to the waters, the body 48 is kept a predetermined distance away from the ground by the function of a ballast rope 3, and steams while searching for the mine 49 by an underwater television 9. Upon locating the mine 49, the body 48 softly lands the ground near the mine 49 using support legs 15 below its main body 4. A manipulator 1 takes ammunition 21 out of an ammunition case 2, and put it at a position closest to the mine 49.
