Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate water from treating object containing solid and water by a method wherein outer and inner cylinders are coaxially rotated in a treating tank, where the former is a circular cylinder having holes on the entire peripheral surface and the latter is a regular polygon cylinder having water-sucking holes at proper locations on the part not directing to the rotational direction.
CONSTITUTION: Treating object such as muddy water is charged with pressure from inlet 2 into treating tank 1, then rotary shaft 18 is rotated in counterclockwisely. Water from the treating object comes into outer cylinder 8 through holes 6 and lower opening. In inner cylinder 8, negative pressure occurs on the peripheral surface opposite to the rotational direction of each edge 8a. Water-suck holes 11 are installed in negative pressure zone, where water is sucked into the inner cylinder 8 and is discharged through pipe 12 and housing 13 to the outside. Solid is splashed by centrifugal force toward the inner wall of the outer cylinder 5, collides with the wall and falls down. Thus, water which has passed through air layer formed around the internal surface of the inner cylinder is sucked into the inner cylinder 8. The solid is discharged with a screw conveyor 4 in a discharge route 3 to the outside of the tank 1.
