Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a miniature flow meter of simple structure suitable applicable to liquid sodium, etc., which has excellent linearity of its output signal, by providing small pieces of magnets near both ends of permanent magnets arranged with a pipe between.
CONSTITUTION: Permanent magnets 13a and 13b sandwiching pipe 11 with internally stuck insulating material 12 are positioned by magnet supporters 14a and 14b. Once a conductive fluid flows in a magnetic filed provided by permanent magnets 13a and 13b, a voltage proportional to the flow rate of the fluid is developed between a couple of electrodes on the same pipe sandwiching pipe 11. In this case, small magnet pieces 15 are so arranged near both ends of permanent magnets 13a and 13b that a magnetic field in the same direction as that of the magnetic field provided by permanent magnets 13a and 13b will be formed. Thus, the linearity of the output voltage can be improved by decreasing an eddy current due to the terminal effect of the permanent magnets.
