Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate adjustment by performing clearance adjustment of a punch and a die using an angle of a taper and a discharge gap. CONSTITUTION:When a taper portion is required on a working surface, a wire electrode is inclined. Its angle of inclination theta must satisfy an equation: theta=tan<-1> (G-C)/T. Where, the working groove width is G, plate thickness is T, and the desired clearance is C. When an angle of a taper is obtained, the threshold clearance Cmin is obtained from an equation: Cmin=G/2X(1-sin45 deg.). When the desired clearance is larger than the threshold clearance Cmin, the above expression is used. When it is equal to or smaller than it, the relationship between the discharge gap (G-D)/2 and the threshold clearance Cmin is obtained by using the diameter D of the wire electrode 1 as a parameter. This characteristic enables selection of the optimum working conditions.
