Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of times of operation of a pressure release valve and reduce remaining pressure, by oprating the pressure release valve after a prescribed time since internal pressure rises above a prescribed lvel. CONSTITUTION:A pressure release port 6 is provided at one end of the horizontal part 5b of a pressure release pipe 5. A pressure release valve 8, which is energized by a spring 7 in a direction to close the pressure release port 6, is provided. A pressure chamber 12 and the internal space 14 of a container 1 are always connected to each other through an orifice-like bypass 13. The cross- sectional area of the bypass 13 is set in consideration of the volume of the pressure chamber 12 and internal pressure, which is expected to act when an accident occurs. As a result, a prescribed time lag is set for a pressure change, due to the rise in the internal pressure, to be transmitted to the pressure chamber through the bypass 13. According to this constitution, opposite equal forces are applied to pressure reception faces 8a, 11d of equal area because of the internal pressure P higher than a prescribed level at the osccurrence of the accident so that the pressure release valve is not operated. After a prescribed time since the occurrence of the accident, the force applied to a pressure reception part 11 becomes stronger than the force of the spring 7 and drives the pressure release valve 8 to open the pressure release port 6 to instantaneously release a large amount of gas. After that, the pressure in the pressure chamber 12 falls and the valve 8 is automatically returned by the spring 7 to close the port 6.
