Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily measure the starting sensitivity of the stylus pressure of a tone arm by inserting a measuring floater to be installed in the tone arm into a fluid vessel thereby to detect the level of the measuring floater or the position variation of the liquid level due to the insertion of the floater.
CONSTITUTION: The tacky surface 2 of an inserting member 1 consisting of a substance having a small specific gravity is fitted to a position (a stylus point equidistant surface) equal to the distance from the fulcrum of a tone arm part 3 to the stylus point. The inserting member 1 is inserted into water in a vessel 5, and the quantity sunk by the stylus pressure is read by a memory 7 or a memory 10 showing the liquid surface 6 thereby to measure the stylus pressure. Further, an inserting member 11 is mounted on the stylus equidistant surface 4 to assume a zero balance, and the inserting member 7 is inserted in the vessel 5 containing a liquid (benzene or the like) having a low specific gravity on colored water. This inserting member 11 is caused to sink by adjustint the weight thereof so that a buoyant material 13 comes to substantially the center of the liquid in the vessel 5 and a memory 15 showing the border between the colored water and benzene is read. The liquid within the vessel 5 is then raised by a vertically adjusting mechanism 12, and the memory 15 at the instant when the tone arm part 3 begins to move is read, and the initial sensitivity is measured by the difference between the value read out from the memory 15 and that read out from the preceding memory.
