Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to obtain the flow rate of within a pipeline from the outside, to unnecessitage attachment of an installation pipe to the pipe and to facilitate the pipeline working by detecting radiation at two points of the pipeline including two kinds of radiation nuclides having different half-value periods.
CONSTITUTION: From the measuring points A and B of a main vapor pipe 10 the radiation is detected by radiation detectors 20 covered with leak preventive shielding vessels 21. Then, specific energy parts determined in eash of radiation nuclides are discriminated by radiation measuring circuits 30, respectively. That is, decay phase logarithms α and β of nuclides a and b at the point A, dicay phase logarithms γ and δ at the point B and the half-value periods Ta and Tb of the nuclides a and b are supplied to a circuit 40, where a vapor density I is added by a densimeter 13 and the vapor flow of the main vapor pipe is calculated by carrying out computation of formula (I), and the result of the computation is displayed in an indicator 41. By this organization, the flow can be measured from the outside, contaminations due to the rediation can be prevented and maintenance and inspection of the device can be facilitated.
