Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the branching between the linear polarized and circular polarized waves without using any rotary joint but by setting the connecting waveguide and the waveguide switch, thus enhancing the cross polarization characteristics. CONSTITUTION:When the linear polarized wave is branched, waveguide switch 13 is set so that connecting waveguides 11 and 12 may be connected to terminals 17 and 18. As a result, the incident polarized wave which is parallel to metal plate 9 is divided into two equal parts within square waveguide 8 and then enters terminals 17 and 18 of magic T16 in the same phase to be compounded at terminal 19. At the same time, the orthogonal wave to metal plate 10 enters terminals 17 and 18 in the opposite phase to be compounded at terminal 20. On the other hand, waveguides 11 and 12 are connected to terminals 14 and 15 via switch 13 when the circular polarized wave is branched. Then the right-turn polarized wave is branched to terminal 15 via switch 13; and the left-turn polarized wave is branched to terminal 14 each.
