Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a processing step and improve a recognition precision, by extracting feature points of input picture elements on a basis of contents of two continuous scanning line information and by inspecting existence of stroke start points to extract the intersection.
CONSTITUTION: Picture information of picture input device 2 is converted to binary information by quantizing circuit 3 and is transmitted to picture memory 4. The output of memory 4 is given to horizontal scanning unit 5h and vertical scanning unit 5v, and scanning information of units 5h and 5v are stored in scanning memory 7-1 of feature point extraction circuits 6h and 6v of the same constitution respectively, and next scanning information is stored in scanning memory 7-2.
