Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a thin film separator having high strength and low electric resistance, by the use of a film of a block copolymer of an olefin and acrylic monomers. CONSTITUTION:The separator film is made of a block copolymer of an olefin such as ethylene and propylene and acrylic or methacrylic monomers of the following formula: (where R is H or CH3 and X is H, CH3, C2H5, or metal) The block copolymer film is converted into a battery separator by dipping, followed by rinsing and drying, in an aq. solution of potassium hydroxide with or without methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, or acetone.
