Abstract

PURPOSE:To scheme to increase the output of an engine by introducing the gas compressed in a reciprocating motion internal combustion engine into a displacer cylinder linked with the engine and again compressing the gas and again introducing the gas into the engine, after heating. CONSTITUTION:The piston in the cylinder 2 of an internal combustion engine is linked with the piston 13 in a displacer cylinder 14 through an accelerating apparatus 15 such as a gear apparatus, having a constant phase difference. In the cylinder 2, a regeneration valve 9 which is linked with a crank shaft 8 is arranged, besides intake and exhaust valves 3 and 4 and an fuel jet apparatus 7. Both cylinders 2 and 14 are allowed to communicate with through two gas passages 91 and 92 which are equipped with a heater 10 and a cooler 12 respectively, through the regenerative valve 9. The valve 9 and heating and colling valves 11a and 11b are linked with the shafts 8 and 16 respectively, and in the first half of compression cycle of the piston 1, gas is introduced into the cylinder 14 from the cooler 12, and in the latter half, air is returned to the cylinder 2 from the heater 10.
