Abstract
PURPOSE:To speedily and simply determine the variations with the lapse of time of height of an interface of sludge, by determining the state of precipitation of sludge in an objective system on the assumption that the sludge is a dynamic model having an elastic modulus and a stress relaxation factor, and calculate a variation curve of interface of the precipitating sludge on the basis of the results of calculation of the elastic modulus and stress relaxation factor thereof. CONSTITUTION:A sludge precipitation tube 1 consisting of, for example, a measuring cylinder of a capacity of around 1l is used as a sludge precipitation testing system. The precipitating sludge in the tube 1 is subjected to measurement by an interface measuring means 2 and a concentration measuring means 3. The elastic modulus and stress relaxation factor of the sludge is determined as a function of the concentration of the sludge by a first calculator 4 by using outputs from the means 2, 3. The concentration of sludge in an objective system 5 is then measured by a sludge concentration measuring means 6. A variation curve of interface of the sludge in the objective system is operated by a second arithmetic calculator 7 on the basis of outputs from the first calculator 4 and means 6 to be displayed by an indicator 8.
