Abstract
PURPOSE: To greatly decrease contaminated water drained from a filtration system, by providing an auxiliary filter unit to filter contaminated water drained from a main filter unit.
CONSTITUTION: Water 1 to be filtered is introduced through an inlet port 5 at the bottom of a main filter unit 3 packed with a filtering material 2. Floating suspended substances contained in the water are removed therefrom while the water rises through the filtering material layer 2. The filtered water 5 is picked out. The filtering material layer 2 having caught the floating suspended substances goes down continuously and reaches a filtering material transfer port 6 at the bottom of the main filter unit 3 and is supplied with air 7 from the port 6 and moved up by the air lift through a lifting pipe 8. The substances caught on the filtering material 2 are removed therefrom in the pipe 8 and transferred to free water contained in the openings of the filtering material. The lifted filtering material 2 reaches a regenerative separation cylinder 9 and is separated from contaminated drained water 10a containing a large quantity of the substances. The filtering material 2 is then conducted to the top of the filtering material layer 2 of the main filter unit 3. The contaminated drained water 10a is introduced into an auxiliary filter unit 12.
