Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve heat resistance, mechanical properties, etc. of aromatic polyester molding articles, by molding the polyester containing inorganic fillers and a compound compatible and nonreactive with the polyester, and thermally treating the molded articles for relatively short time.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 parts by weight of an aromatic polyester comprising an acid component consisting of ≥ 60 mole% of terephthalic acid and/or 2,6-naphthalic acid and a dioxy component consisting of ≥ 50 mole% of an aromatic dihydroxy compound (pref. bisphenol A, etc.), is preferably dryblended with (B) 1W100 parts by weight of inorganic fillers (pref. glass fibers) and (C) 1W50 parts by weight of a compound compatible and substantially nonreactive with the component (A), having a boiling point of ≥ 300°C and free from decomposition even at 350°C (e.g. diphenylsulfone, etc.), and injection-molded. The molded articles are thermally treated at the second-order transition temperature to the melting point of the composition, preferably at 160W250°C for ≥ 5 sec.
