Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate machining such as tap machining and boring by a method wherein a thin blank surface material consisting of a special steel harder than a substrate made of straight carbon steel is integrally pressure-welded to the substrate to form a plate, and the plate is heat-treated. CONSTITUTION:A substrate A is made of ordinary structural steel (e.g., JIS SS, SN); a blank surface material B consists of a special steel such as high speed steel (e.g., JIS SKH), alloyed tool steel (e.g., JIS SKS, SKD-11), or hard metal. The surface material B is formed to be much thinner than the substrate A, and the both are integrated together by friction pressure welding or the like, to form a plate C. The plate C is heat-treated in advance to its use. For producing a product using the plate C, cutting is conducted by a wire cut-type electric discharge machine according to a program, starting from a start point hole D.
